“Early Education where Christ is First” guides our focus at Northside Christian Academy. Our goal was to create a top quality, Christian childcare option guided by a faith-based curriculum and blended with proven concepts and strategies of early childhood care, teaching methodology and environment.
Our classrooms look similar to that of a Montessori school and their interiors were designed in a natural-color theme. The walls create a muted canvas that allows the children’s imaginative artwork to come alive and transform the classroom into a stimulating environment. Our teaching environments were designed to be flexible so that they can be easily reconfigured to coincide with the current teaching themes and lesson plans.
Our Christian values drive our curriculum and childcare goals. We employ a formal Christian curriculum, “Experience God”, combined with the finer points of other well-known curricula such as “A-Beka”, “Creative Curriculum” and others. Additionally, we believe that a single methods approach to what is commonly termed as “preschool”, “educational day care” or even “day school” can be limiting; and therefore, we incorporate a range of techniques that combine the methods developed by Maria Montessori, Rudolf Steiner (Waldorf Schools) and Reggio Emilia. The end result is a well-planned teaching strategy that is rooted in Christian values and provides an appropriate balance between teacher-directed activities and child-directed choices.
Our Director and as well as all of our teachers are highly skilled and professionally trained in Early Childhood Development, CPR and First Aid. Additionally, we require that all of our staff exceed the core Continuing Education annual hours requirement by the State of Tennessee codes and regulations. We schedule one In-Service Training day per year where outside professionals teach our staff in-depth skills and lessons to be applied in the classroom and play areas. Our most recent In-Service day featured the Rutherford County’s Advocacy Center’s “Darkness to Light”, child abuse and prevention training.
Beyond the classrooms, we feature a natural play area that has features far beyond what you would expect from a daycare or preschool setting. We purposefully created a playground that uses natural materials to create a variety of play spaces that allow your child to have a developmentally appropriate set of choices to explore nature, expend energy and have fun.
We operate our programs at the Northside Christian Academy Preschool campus weekdays from 6:30 am to 6:00 pm. We would love to meet you and tour you through our facility today. You may reach us at 615-713-2574.
